Alzheimer's
by Eliza Camire

Grandma always drank
iced manhattans
she smoked
two packs of
Virginia Slims a day
wore golf socks
with the pompom on the ankle
curled her hair
wore pale pink lipstick
and made the house spotless
and smelled of baked Chex Mix
and peanuts
everyday.

now- like a rag doll
now- unwashed hair
now- in her house of 30 years
I will help her find the bathroom
again
and stare at the brown ring
around the wall of her beige tub.
